In southern Africa lies the  flatland country of Botswana. Botswana gained its independence from Britain in  1966. The country relies on manufacturing, tourism, and the diamond industry  for its economic prosperity. Its natural resources are limited as the country  is 70% desert. Since its independence, Botswana has seen enormous economic  growth, but Botswana has been drastically impacted by AIDS/HIV. The official  languages of Botswana are English and Setswana. The dominating music style is  Tswana, which has a heavy vocal emphasis.
